Speaker Bio
Kent Alterman is President of Comedy Central, Paramount Network and TV Land. He is responsible for the leadership, strategy and management across all three brands. Alterman rejoined Comedy Central in 2010 as Head of Original Programming and Production (he served as Head of East Coast Development from 1996-2000). He was promoted to President, Original Programming in 2013 and rose to President of Comedy Central in 2016. In 2018, Alterman added the responsibility of President of Comedy Central, Paramount and TV Land.

Since his return in 2010, Alterman and his development team embarked on an ambitious launch of original programming — more than doubling the amount of original series on the air than at any time in the history of the brand. Focused on incubating new talent and concepts across all screens, he created bona fide franchises with a broad mix of some of the most significant voices in comedy today, including the Emmy® Award-winning series Broad City, Drunk History, Key & Peele, Inside Amy Schumer and @midnight with Chris Hardwick, along with critical and fan favorites Nathan for You,The Jim Jefferies Show, Workaholics, Review and Another Period. He was also a key voice in selecting Trevor Noah as host of the Emmy® Award-winning The Daily Show.

In addition, under Alterman’s watch, Comedy Central has greatly expanded its development of original series and short-form content for digital and social platforms, including the Emmy® Award-winning Between the Scenes for Facebook Watch and the Emmy®-nominated Hack into Broad City, along with the creation of The Creators Program, which has led to over 4.7 billion videos of Comedy Central content streamed across digital and social platforms in FY2018, a year-over-year increase of +63%.

Expanding Comedy Central’s footprint and deep connection to its fans beyond the linear screen, Alterman spearheaded the brand’s expansion into the physical world with the launch of the wildly successful Clusterfest, a jam-packed, three-day, comedy and music festival experience across five indoor and outdoor stages that featured stand-up and sketch performances, podcast recordings and iconic comedy attractions, along with musical performances, including one-of-a-kind collaborations between musicians and comedians. The #1 comedy brand also produces nationwide stand-up events and festivals; boasts a Grammy® Award-winning record label (Comedy Central Records); is a leading provider of comedy content for voice assistants; produces and curates a global podcast network; and operates Comedy Central Radio on SiriusXM (channel 95).

Prior to working with Comedy Central, Paramount and TV Land, Alterman had an overall film deal with Fox Film Studios. Before that, he directed and executive produced New Line’s feature film Semi-Pro, starring Will Ferrell, Woody Harrelson and Andre Benjamin. From 2001 to 2006, he served as Executive Vice President at New Line, overseeing a diverse slate of films including perennial Christmas hit, Elf, and multiple Oscar®-nominated films, A History of Violence and Little Children.
