Speaker Bio
Nina L. Diaz is the President of Entertainment for MTV, VH1, CMT and Logo, a role in which she oversees the development and production of all unscripted programming for the brands. She is an experienced and highly successful producer, showrunner, creator and top executive who is recognized across the industry as a gifted, savvy and creative leader with an unmatched eye for talent – on and off-screen – and a remarkable skill for building diverse characters and narrative.

Diaz previously held the post of Executive Vice President, Programming and Development, Unscripted for MTV and VH1 since November 2016 when she added MTV to her role.

During her tenure as Head of Unscripted for VH1, she presided over an industry leading 10 consecutive quarters of growth, and held 11 of the top 20 unscripted series for P18-34, including monster hits “Love and Hip Hop,” “Black Ink Crew,” “Martha and Snoop’s Potluck Dinner Party,” “Hip Hop Squares” and the reinvented “America’s Next Top Model” which had its most watched season in five years.

Within short order of returning to MTV, Diaz quickly got to work and presided over a total programming overhaul by returning the brand back to its roots with youth-focused, coming of age stories ultimately delivering MTV a record setting six consecutive quarters of growth – the network’s best streak in its nearly 40-year history. Diaz and team spearheaded two of the top five biggest new hits of 2017 for P18-34 with “Floribama Shore” (#2) and “Siesta Key” (#4). Additionally, she was behind the biggest unscripted premiere in cable since 2012 with “Jersey Shore Family Vacation” followed by “Ex on the Beach” just three weeks later which delivered MTV’s highest rated non-“Jersey Shore” unscripted launch in over four years. Between MTV and VH1, she was responsible for ten of the top ten unscripted series for the calendar year and, most recently, she launched several buzzy new shows including “Lindsay Lohan’s Beach Club,” “How Far Is Tattoo Far?” and “Made In Staten Island” each of which premiered as a top cable hit.

Diaz, always a pioneer for diverse stories, is credited with pushing boundaries from colorism and LGBTQ awareness in “Love & Hip Hop” to transgender visibility in “Young and Pregnant.” Her unwavering mandate to celebrate diverse stories and inclusion is evident in each and every one of her projects.

She began her career at MTV where she developed and launched “My Super Sweet 16,” “Cribs” and is credited with conceiving the idea for “The Osbournes.” Prior to joining VH1, Diaz worked as an independent producer, developing hits including VH1’s “Mob Wives” and Bravo’s “Real Housewives of New Jersey” which broke franchise ratings’ records at that time across all key demos.

A native Manhattanite, Diaz is a proud product of the NYC public school system and a graduate of Fordham University where she received her BA in Communications and studied abroad in Italy. A frequent guest on high profile industry panels, she was recently named to Variety’s coveted New Power New York list.
